Sunday School
meets during the morning service and takes place in the Church
Hall where children from Primary One right through to the Senior
Classes meet together.
The entire
Sunday School comes together around 11:15am after the Minister
has given the Children’s address in the Church. We begin
by singing together an item of praise then one of the male teachers
leads in a short word of prayer. Following this we ‘break
up’ into our classes. Primary 1-2 are together in the Lower
Hall, Primary 2-7 in the Upper Hall while the Senior classes go
into the Manse (being older has its perks), and there enjoy home
comforts.
Annual
Outing
Usually
towards the end of June we have our annual outing and this is
an event which all, both children and adults, seem to enjoy. Although
many of the adults seem to be somewhat stiffer in their movement
the following day- can never figure that out!!!
Parties
Christmas
parties are now a thing of the past (in name only), as there were
so many things on around Christmas the children were spoiled for
choice and some would opt for other parties and so miss the Sunday
School one.
This was
resolved by having a party towards the end of January which has
proved very popular. Of course we couldn’t call a party
at the end of January a Christmas party so we held a competition
to find a name amongst the children and the winning entry was
‘Celebration Party’. And why not, it doesn’t
have to be Christmas to celebrate the birth of Jesus.
Senior
Girls
Senior girls
go on an annual ‘pilgrimage’ to Garenin Blackhouses
where they have a fantastic couple of days and nights, with some
of the lady teachers and volunteer mothers (and the odd gran).
All return on a high and totally exhausted. These oldies just
won’t let the girls sleep at night.
Senior
Boys
Senior boys
on the other hand have their night out either on the Go Cart Track,
watching a movie or a games night on the Wii . They also enjoy
a Chinese meal, either in the restaurant or a take away.
Teaching
All in all,
there is lots for the children to enjoy in the course of the Sunday
School year, not to mention the most important part, learning
together of Jesus’ love for each and every one of the children
and adults alike.
Lessons are
delivered in a relaxed manner which seeks to encourage interaction.
Crafts are also used as part of the lesson, especially amongst
the younger classes.
We have a
very willing and able group of teachers who freely give of their
time and talents in order to bring the truths of the Gospel to
the children in a manner in which they can understand. We are
grateful to them for their efforts.
Should you
wish to find out more about Sunday School, perhaps with a view
to enrolling your child, please feel free to come round to the
Hall with the children when they leave the Church. You can then
meet with the teachers and children and find out more about us
all.
